I attended a funeral a few weeks ago and one of the mourners read the poem by Linda Ellis. It was called The Dash and it discusses the fact that we live life in-between two dates: Our birth and Our Death. The Dash that separates those years on our tombstone signifies what and how we have lived our lives. Our Pastor spoke last Sunday about that very poem and has asked us “What are we doing with the time we have left?”

Now, this gave me a lot to think about. In these very unsettling times, we have so many thoughts and items tugging at our mind-strings, that we sometimes find there is no room left to think about what is really important.

I want to use my “Dash” to unapologetically glorify my Lord. I have lived my three score and ten years and for whatever time is left to me, I want to help those that I can and strengthen our country’s foundation through education and encouragement. To put it in the vernacular of the day, “I ain’t dead yet, so I may as well start walking my path.”

I was born in Phoenixville, PA, and lived in many locations as a child. We moved 19 times in 21 years as a youngster; needless to say I became very good at packing.  I trained green-stick jumpers (horses) and worked during summers while in high school.  Later, I taught high school math and science in Maine and in Florida. Now retired from teaching and many other careers, I have finally found a comfortable niche – writing. Along with this blog/website, I will be contributing to other sites as an author. I will be very pleased to share those sites with you and encourage you to visit them.
